Cassy Rich is a Montreal (Canada) artist who specializes in acrylic paintings, prints and installations. She also has a passion for art education, especially within a community environment. It led her to complete a DEC in Visual Arts at Cegep St-Laurent in 2012. She then completed in 2016 a BFA in Art Education at Concordia University. During her time at Concordia Univesity, through her participation with the Collective 432 she has received a small project grant from the Concordia Fine Art Student Association. Her work was part of the Collective 432’s last two exhibitions Some of her paintings and prints are currently in private collections.
In 2016, she was selected for a residency with La Wayaka Current at their Tropic Residency in Armila, Guna Yala, Panama. This residency allowed her to learn more about nature, create & share with the indigenous communities who live from the land and sea with ancient knowledge still carried through their culture. For a month in a remote village, she led a mural workshop with the local school. She also created an installation on an island at the village sea entrance which addressed important aspects of the community, such as the impact of human on the environment, matriarchy and art in the community. Nubian Nene, dance artist, created in collaboration with Cassy a performance which was shown to the entire community using the installation and the help of fellow artists.
Cassy has also worked in collaboration with the Benedict Labre House as well as the Nazareth House as an art educator and helped create a mural at both locations. In addition, she has also taught multiple workshops at Le Milieu, Collège St-Paul, Royal Vale School, and Cedarcrest School.
